  • Karmann Ghia

    IMG_3317IMG_3316IMG_3318

One of the dr. I worked with called me Karmann Ghia and then he shortened it to Volkswagon.

I also worked with a dr. who drove one of these. I always thought they were cool looking.

This one is from the late 60's.

  • Makes me think of a promotional car for Florida oranges. :-D

  • Is this a goal of yours, Jill? Snazzy!

    • oh, no, my car is a Buick and is a big car. LOL I am an old lady now.
Just stopped to take a photo.
the first hubby(Willie Nelson) and I had a VW bus in all thru the 70's it was two tone white and turquoise.

  • I never knew about that car! I didn't know that Volkswagon ever made anything other than their bus and their bug back then. Very cool!

  • There aren't too many old cars in the "rust belt" so I've never seen one of these before! I like the color and I bet it really used to stand out when the car color selection was more conservative!

  • I remember those. We had a friend who had an old one. That's what he called it anyways. He scared me out of my wits one day when he suddenly took a turn into the cornfield and we went flying through the cornstalks that were taller than the car! Bleh.

    • sounds like something my brother did in his small VW bug. He drove on the damn at our man made lake and then dropped out of site. Don't know how he and his friends got it out of that cavern?
      LOL
My brother's was a cream colored and he had it in high school.

  • Hi, Volkswagon. No, I like Jill better.

    • I think he just liked the name Carmel and I don't like it but in school that is what the nuns all called me since I guess jill isn't a Christian name.

  • I used to see them once in awhile, but not lately. I assume they are not manufactured anymore.

    • the dr. I worked for has an orange one also and I stopped thinking he might be selling his but as I looked on the inside I saw that it wasn't his at all.
I wonder is this was a normal or original color?
I will have to goggle it and see. I got tickled at my old friend who died. She told me that she thought he daughter in San Diego got a brand new Studebaker. Well, I kept quiet but her 95yr old friend said,"Neta, they don't even make those anymore." It turned out to be another model. LOL

  • One of my favorite cars, along with the Volkswagon, Jill! We had a doctor who drove a dark green one KG ... that was a very long time ago!! I have a new favorite now, and I think they're kinda cute, too ... a Mini Cooper! :)

  • My neighbor has a blue Ghia. She shows it off come spring and summer.

  • Cool! My mom had a little green one, and she adored it! There was not much room in the back seat, though!

  • Those were cool cars. A friend had the station wagon version back in 1970-1971.
