Pie safe
The fellow across the hall at the antique mall from us sometimes makes his own furniture.
This is a shelf with a screen window so I guess it's a pie safe.

That looks awfully narrow for any of MY pies.. maybe it is a tart safe?
I don't think I've ever seen a pie safe. Just read about them. Well, not really about them. They were just mentioned in some books I've read over the years.
really? maybe it's a southern thing. Pie safes that is.
Pie safes make perfect sense- keep all manner of pests away!
At home in India we had a safe like that in the kitchen and it was called a 'meat safe'.
