  • My sister’s photo of Ireland

My sister went to Ireland to visit our roots in Shannon.

My mom said in Poland  they took what they would cook on Easter Sunday in a basket to have the priest bless it.

Maybe that is where the basket came into the story.

We believe in the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Happy Easter. My son is in Ireland right now. Maybe they’re sitting across the restaurant from each other, :) Hugs

  • Oh maybe she not there now. haha Hoppy Day!

  • ‘Easter basket’ – Oh how interesting, thanks for sharing that. I so wish I could go to Ireland. I hope you are having a wonderful Resurrection Sunday.

  • Happy Easter, Jill. Ireland is on my radar screen for a few years from now. This scene is an example of why.

    • my sister got in touch with our family roots and went to the church and got the names of our family members who were who were buried there.

  • Yes! I also believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

  • My sister-in-law is Irish. Some of her family still live there. Her last name was O’Neil.

    • Dad’s family was the Troy’s and they ended up in Long Island , New York. My grandma his mom was a domestic and his dad was a driver for Judge O’Brian.

  • Very nice photo! The camera bug must have bit both of you! When we had an Irish priest he would have people bring their Easter feast to the church and bless them – mostly people brought the rolls and bread… Now that we don’t have that priest there isn’t a blessing of the food…

  • Nice picture.

  • Yes, we ate our pre-dinner eggs, bread and sausage that were blessed at the Polish church yesterday. Happy Easter!

  • Yes Janine and I also .

    THE VISIT IN Ireland should be moving.;
I hope you had a beautiful Easter and also you foot is much better,
    Love
    Michel

  • We have had blessing of the bread at church but I don’t think they have done it here for a long time.

    • yes, when we saw mom at the nursing home we talked about how she took the food to church before she cooked it to get it blessed. I said,”we did the same.” She thinks she made dinner and we just brought sides. LOL it’s nice to be old and everything is done and you still get credit.
My hubby doesn’t understand the games we play with but he will when his mom has dementia.

  • I am so thankful that our Savior is risen! That’s what Easter is truly all about!
I enjoy the “fun” customs of Americans, too… the eggs, bunny, candy, etc.
Ireland is beautiful! Never been, but I’ve “traveled” via photos & videos!
