This barn and land is a mile from our house. It was bought by the natural gas company for drilling.
40 years ago we used to ride horses here. Sister and I were California girls and not used to cow patties.
As I stood surveying the area I felt like crying but I thought; well, it’s happy tears for a wonderful life.”

precious memories ~
Reminds me of John’s photos of abandoned OK homesteads. Too bad really that they can’t use the land in a dual purpose kind of way…
Happy tears. The best kind.
I can understand the attachment you have for this place.
I would cry too if I had to sell the farm but that is life. We leave it all behind in a few short years anyways. I still have such fond memories of our place in Ohio. Can’t spend our lives looking back and being sad but I still do sometimes.
Hope your week-end is wonderful.
it’s all gone so fast and I wonder where it went but I know it’s in my heart.
Memories cut both ways.
40 years in TX; and originally from CA.
Do you feel totally Texan now?
42 years for me in OH; born in CA.
Overall I feel like an Ohioan!
