  • Mom at the home

    Mom asked me if her parents were still alive and I said,"well, you said grandma comes to visit you."

    She said, "she comes once a week."

    She once told me that both her  grandparents were still living at home.

    I said that is good cause I know they're getting old.

  • Sad but I think she must get some comfort from the remaining memories... Looks like a good visit - you are smiling!

    • yes, it was a good visit cause I never know when she's going to advance in her disease so if she can carry on a conversation I'm happy. She knows my hubby and I come to visit her but hubby says that's all she knows about us.
      I said,"I think she knows us cause she asks how was our drive in ? He said,"she's just making conversation."

  • I think you look a lot like your mom. She's pretty, and looks pretty young, too. Does she live completely in the past, or is it in & out? I'm glad she has such a great daughter. :-)

    • yes, I told my sister who I share the booth with that she can pick my nursing home. LOL
      she lives in the past and I'm not going to argue with her about it; no use in making her cry.

  • I am glad you keep her memories alive Jill. That is so therapeutic in and of itself.

    • Thanks, we go over all the relatives alive and dead and talk about each person.
      I fill her in on news. My hubby thinks it's a waste of time but what else do I have to talk to her about but family.

  • She just lives in the present, you say, Jill and your are right . You mother is wise even if she mixes a bit the things .
    She looks physically well and the home is comfortable.

    • Mom is 88 years old and is doing well because of the home she's in. I told my sister that she could pick out my nursing home.

  • Your mom looks healthy and happy. I'm glad that she has you to visit her often.

    • she lives an hour away so it's not as easy as when I lived a few miles away and would just drop in all the time.
      She's close to my sister and my brother. Turns out my brother stops by after work several times a week. He's turned out to be really good and knows all the nurses and stuff.

  • I think their brains play tricks on them sometimes and they have a harder time thinking than they used to. :-(

    • yes, she's like her mother and now her sister is the same. It doesn't look good for me, does it?
      I've gotten slower since hitting 60yr old and then some. LOL at least mom is pleasant

    • maybe not the best.LOL she lives an hour away and then we stay a few hours and it's another hour home so I don't go as much as my sister or brother who live close.

  • It looks like a very nice, homey looking place for your mom to live.

    • yes, my sister picked it out and it has apt. that are on the outside with it's own dining room so when you need to you can always move to the nursing home.
      I guess she's been there 5 yrs now. I'm not sure
