  • Jack is back

I thought this looked like Jack in the box.

My dad's name was John but all his friends called him Jack.

Mom said Christmas brought out the kid in him.

Soon after dad died there were billboards with "Jack is back."

We always joked that because dad was a paratrooper in WW2 that he might just have more then nine lives.

  • It does, and that's a pretty tree. My father-in-law was also called Jack and fought in WWII. I wish "Jack was back."

  • A touching remembrance of your dad! John was such a popular name that Jack was a necessary nickname to differentiate John, Johnny, Jack, Jackie, and that is just in the English form! I like the snowman mannequins.

  • What were the signs for? Who was this Jack?

    • in 1995 they had a campaign to bring the clown back to Jack in the box remember they blew him up years ago?
hey, do you mean this store? I was just window shopping downtown.

  • John's become Johnny's hereabouts. I guess it's a Southern thing.

    • yes, my brother was a Jr. but I hear when the senior dies then he can drop the Jr. off the end of his name. He has always gone by Johnny and later John. When I say Johnny he knows it's family. 67yrs and he's still Johnny to me.

  • How special to talk about the great memories we have of our dads. This will be our second Christmas without my dad, and now that Mom lives with us, we enjoy talking about many special things that make us think of him. Christmas brought out the "kid" in both Dad, & Mom! We all believe in keeping that "inner child" healthy! :-D
I have known a number of "Jack's" whose given name was "John."

    • yes, dad went by Jackie when he was a little boy. It's a good name and I was hoping one of the grandsons would be named Jack but it's their children.
Yes, dad has been gone for awhile but it's always sad to think of her and my grandparents at holidays cause I wish they were still with us but at the time you didn't realize that they won't always be there.
