  • Flips and shorts

    old and young

My hubby wears flips and shorts everywhere and in any type of weather.

Dave said, "I think I'll wear long pants and shoes for thanksgiving."

When Phillip was a teenager; Dave told me to let up on the dress code cause it ruins the holiday.

My son wore what he wanted to. I then remembered that at that age I hated to dress up,too.

  • Dave is relaxed and that is good.

  • he's at his favorite place. I don't like the McRib and he does.
The old and young both like it.

  • I am envious that he can wear them. It is so terribly cold here Jill. Like 12 and 13 degrees. I am sure he won't want to wear shorts and flip flops here.
I am kind of formal about dress code at meal times. I think it is the way I was brought up; plus there were no jeans or shorts or flip flops in those days in India.

    • I don't like to see skin at meal time and that is at fast food places. I don't tell others but it bothers me to see feet when I'm eating.
I guess in the 50's and 60's we were taught to have clothes on when we came to the table.
My hubby had to get dressed up to eat and I guess he is protesting now.
Once when his parents came for dinner and we were just having hamburgers I said,"maybe I need to put the mustard and catsup in little bowls with a spoon instead of just the bottles on the table-he said,"no, that is how I guess up with them in silver cups and I refuse it." I think he was working through some things. LOL

  • Your husband sounds like a unique, and very likeable, kind of guy. :-)

    • well, I asked him one year if he was going to wear another Hawaii shirt again this year for thanksgiving and he said that he never did and I got all the photos out from the last few years and he said,"I guess it's a tradition on thanksgiving." he's funny.

  • One of my grand-daughters always wears her jammies over here Christmas Day. Of course, she lives next door. Don't know what she'll wear Thanksgiving. People don't dress up like they used to, do they?

  • Hehe! You can only get away with that in those southern states where it isn't bitterly cold! I'm contemplating wearing my fleece pjs tonight!

    • when we used to camp they would have us strip down to our skives in the sleeping bag and that way we would be warm when we got our clothes on and that has stayed with me for life.

  • I will dress up for my Legion Christmas Dinner on Dec. 6. Otherwise, I am business casual on Thanksgiving and the actual Yuletide festivities.

  • It's good you guys live in a warm climate. He would be cold in flip flops up here right now.

  • I was going to say, cool but that would be a ridiculous comment. PS I seldom wear shorts anymore (ugly legs)

  • The climare leads to clothes adapted .
It will be imposble to wear flips and short in our northern France in winter! :-)
    Love
    Michel
