I remember mom got mad and that day she said,"no one is going trick or treating."
As a little kid we were so upset cause back in the 1950's we were or felt safe in our neighborhood and all our friend's were going.
When it got darkĀ she relented and told us we could go.

I love the black/purple pumpkin! Is it glass??
the sparkly one is Styrofoam
white and black are popular this year -like Midnight before Christmas-movie
We never went trick or treating, we just had fall parties.
I love fall parties.
RYC - I don't fight with people. Sometimes people say stuff that hurts my feelings. I get over it. I realize people don't think about things they say sometimes.
sorry, if I said something out of line. I forgot what it was about? I will have to go to your site and look.
I usually say things cause I'm guilty.
Yes, my younger son went to fall parties ,too. By that time his brother was older and he would rather go to a classmates party and not spook houses.
I never went trick or treating. lol
Glad you got to go as a kid.
I'm so sorry Frank, did your mom not believe in it? or was it not invented yet? I know that is a low blow.
Wasn't it so nice back in the 50's when we all felt safe in our neighborhood's... and 'all our friends were going'? My mom didn't let us go out in the dark though, by dusk we had to be headed home. I remember giving the 'but everyone else' argument.
bet your mom said,"if everyone jumped off a cliff would you?"
LOL
Yes, the 1950's were an ideal time now that I think back but that is why Stephen King's book "It" was so good. I had to close the book and stop reading it sometimes. LOL
I HAD ONLY READ IN THE VARIOUS COMIC BOOKS ABOUT HALLOWEEN AND THE TRADITION OF TRICK OR TREAT. (ooops, didn't realize I had the capsLock on!)
RYC about Sarah's first wedding, she married a Muslim man who had come from Pakistan. So he was not of a different religion. We didn't know until much later that the only reason he married her, was to become a US citizen.
I thought? why is Zsa yelling at me. LOL just kidding.
I bet it seems odd to you Halloween.
I worked for a dr. from Pakistan and he was I very kind person and my hubby liked him also. I'm so dumb I asked him about his rolled up oriental looking rum and he was fine with telling me about it and answering any questions I had.
RYC: She probably just said, "No arguments". lol My mom wasn't a mess around kind of person... not till she became a grandma... then she was lots of fun.
But yes, I think the 50's were the best of times... been pretty much downhill since the 60's. 80's and 90's didn't seem so bad though, but not like the 50's. I hate the way people dress has changed since the 50's. In the 50's people seemed to take a pride in their appearance.
I try to be modest all the time but I know I could wear dresses and even look better.
They are almost naked sometimes.
