  • Roll out the barrels

    IMG_0448

Most of the time here in Texas you see the metal barrels painted red, white or blue. You know cowgirls like to barrel race.

These are at the nursery but most of the time I see the barrels already sawed in half.

  • Pottery Pumpkins

I guess you call these jack-o-lanterns, They are at the nursery next to the Dairy Queen and cost $39.

She gave me a discount. My hubby said, "that is a lot of money and it's just going to rot.

Here in the country the closest Ikea store is an hour and half away in Frisco,Texas  so if I find anything  "Ikea"  I'm excited.

I got this napkin holder at a thrift store; kitchen tins, coffee cups and wall art at garage sales in town.

I even have small lamp in my bathroom that I got at the antique mall by trading with another dealer.

Reece's other Nana was in the hospital and I told my son that I would help with the kids if they got restless.

When they swing on the curtains it's time to go to the waiting room.

  • Changing seats

    IMG_0370

When I stared nursing school at 18 years old I sat on the back row and goofed around.

" I have to act my way into good behavior." The next day I walked up to the front of the class and sat in the front row.

    I put away childish things.

The other girls in the back dropped out one at a time.

  • Remember ironing?

    IMG_0320 IMG_0329

When I went to nursing school in 1971 I remember a fellow in our class washed his new uniform in hot water and said,"If it last through that wash, it will last the whole year." Well, the older women all hollered that he washed all the permanent press out." He went around the rest of the year a little wrinkled.

I think those were my first permanent press clothes and all I had to do is wash, shake and hang. I was 19yrs old.

  • The elephant at the backdoor

    IMG_0369

I would like to talk serious and tell you about my family.

When I was in school; I would walk to school with a little girl. I told her that the robber came to our house last night.  He comes in the middle of the night  cussing and yelling to be let in.

Mom says to get back to bed and I guess my dad is sleeping. She asked a lot of questions about why would a robber be loud and why would he say let me in.

It was easier not to  walk with that little girl anymore.

  • New use for suitcase

    IMG_0338

That is a small overnight suitcase but I'm sure you can do it with any case.

It's broke in half and legs are added and a pillow.

This one is small but my scotty dog would have liked it.
